The Canva templates for The Book at a glance

A visual identity for The Book, an online bookstore for dark-romance fiction: logo, palette and type, then Canva templates and printed materials for readers.

TASK

The Book is an online bookstore for dark-romance fiction, mystery boxes and hand-picked titles with a darker aesthetic.

The brand had to signal its niche at first sight and create atmosphere, character and emotion rather than just show products. Once the identity was in place, the team needed templates to produce content in the same style on its own — and then materials that reach the reader on paper.

APPROACH

Identity. The idea rests on the contrast between romance and darkness that defines the genre. The logo is a gothic frame with a skeletal hand holding a rose, with variants: a wordmark, the emblem in outline and in solid colour, and a TB monogram.

  • Palette: deep blood red, crimson, black, and light beige in place of pure white, as the client asked.
  • Type: Skynard, a gothic display face with modernised legibility, for headings, and Sitka Text for body copy.

Canva templates. On that base we design a set of Canva templates for books, quotes, recommendations and promotions that stay recognisable yet adapt easily to new topics.

Printed materials (2026). We carry the same identity onto paper — a collection for readers in which every piece uses the brand's colours, type and graphic motifs.

  • A deck of 52 reading-challenge cards inspired by tarot: the reader draws one when they want an idea for their next book.
  • Bookmarks in several designs, a notepad, two kinds of sticky notes, a thank-you card and stickers.
  • Series Trackers — an A4 sheet and a separate format — for keeping track of the books read in a series.
  • A custom pattern that widens the visual language and can be applied across formats.

OUTCOME

The Book has a complete identity, with logo variants, a palette and type, a set of Canva templates its team uses to create social media content, and printed materials that carry the same style into the reader's hands.
