SEO and AI search

SEO and AI search for websites and online stores: technical SEO, content and structured data so Google and ChatGPT find you. Check it: add .md to the address.

.md in the address

SEO and optimisation for AI search engines (the industry calls it GEO) are one service, because they are one piece of work: technical fixes that make a site readable, content that answers the buyer’s question, and structured data that tells a machine what it is looking at. Search now has two exits: ten blue links, or one ready answer from an assistant like ChatGPT. Both draw on the same pages.

Check for yourself what an AI reads on this site

Add .md to the address and you get this page as plain text in Markdown: the words, headings and links an assistant works with, minus the menu and the styling. Every service, case study and glossary term on tnb-tech.com has such a twin, so anything we claim here can be checked. The site’s summary for assistants is in llms.txt, services and glossary terms carry structured data, and robots.txt names the AI crawlers we let in.

Who SEO and AI search is for, and who it is not for

SEO and AI search makes sense for a site with a page for every service or product; for an online store whose buyers type long-tail keywords like “women’s leather winter boots”; for a site due to be replaced; and for a business that wants assistants to quote it, not a competitor. It is not for anyone after a guaranteed first place.

T&B Technology is a digital agency in Bulgaria. SEO and AI search sits in our marketing and search work, alongside Google Ads and social media management. It runs in four steps — audit, plan, execution, measurement — with a monthly report. We need access to Google Search Console, Google Analytics and the site’s admin, and one person with the final say on the copy. If the site is slow or dated, we start with website speed optimisation or website development.

WHAT IS INCLUDED

What SEO and AI-search optimisation includes.

Technical SEO

URLs, redirects, speed, the sitemap and indexing: the things that decide whether Google sees a page at all.

Structured data

Schema.org code that tells a machine what it is looking at: the business, its services, products, articles, questions and answers.

Content

Selling pages first (services, categories, products), then articles and comparisons on what people ask before buying. Each answers a question instead of repeating a keyword.

AI search

A .md twin of your pages, llms.txt, a robots.txt that lets in the search crawlers of ChatGPT and Perplexity, and answers written to be quoted.

Local search

Google Business Profile, the map, reviews, and the same name, address and phone number everywhere, for searches that name a town.

Monthly report

Positions, impressions, clicks and enquiries from search; visits from ChatGPT (they arrive tagged utm_source=chatgpt.com) and Perplexity; what we change next month.

HOW IT RUNS

How SEO and AI-search optimisation moves through four stages, without a hand-off.

  1. 01

    Audit

What blocks indexing, what brings traffic today, and what assistants quote you for, if anything.

  2. 02

    Plan

Which pages get fixed, which get written, in what order, and which question each one answers.

  3. 03

    Execution

Technical fixes, content, structured data, .md twins and llms.txt; no new copy goes live without your approval.

  4. 04

    Measurement

We measure positions, impressions and enquiries against the starting point from the audit and pick the next pages.

PRICE

What does SEO cost, and is it worth it for a small site?

SEO is billed as a monthly fee set by three things: how big the site is, how many languages it has and how much technical work is still undone. For a small site it is worth it if the site sells something people search for; there, the first step is often a one-off clean-up rather than a subscription. What moves the price is set out on the pricing page.

QUESTIONS

SEO and AI-search optimisation: what people ask most.

What is AI search, and why does it matter?

AI search means getting a finished answer instead of a list of links, from ChatGPT, Perplexity, Claude or Google’s AI Overviews. It matters because people often stop at the answer and see only the source it cites. An assistant quotes a passage that stands without the page around it, so optimising for AI assistants starts where SEO does. Google says an indexed page is all AI Overviews need; the .md twins and llms.txt do not lift rankings there — they are for assistants that read sites directly.

How can I check what ChatGPT sees on my site?

Open the page with JavaScript switched off, or view its source (Ctrl+U in Chrome): that is how the search crawlers behind ChatGPT, Claude and Perplexity see it, since as a rule they do not run JavaScript. If your copy, prices or contact details are missing there, the assistant cannot see them either. Check that the first paragraph answers the buyer’s question and says who you are and where. Then look at robots.txt (add /robots.txt after your domain): a site that blocks OAI-SearchBot is not shown in ChatGPT search answers.

How soon will I see results from SEO?

SEO results arrive in two stages: technical fixes show within weeks, content and rankings over months. That is why the report is monthly, and the first one records the starting point to compare against. How fast depends on how often Google crawls the site and who else competes for the same keywords. A new site starts slower than one with a history in Google.

Do you work on a site you did not build?

Yes, we take on SEO for sites we did not build, WordPress included, and for online stores on other platforms. When a site is about to be replaced, we draw up the redirect map before the switch, so every old address leads to its new page rather than to a 404 error. That is how we replaced this site: 575 old addresses, checked one by one.

Do you guarantee first place in Google?

No. Nobody can. We guarantee an audit, a plan and a monthly measurement of what actually moves. Rankings also depend on your competitors, the backlinks pointing at them and changes at Google, so anyone who promises first place is promising something they do not control. When you compare offers, ask what will change on the site and what the report will show, not how many keywords the package includes, and turn down any offer built on bought links: Google’s spam policies forbid them.

What stays with me if we stop the SEO?

Everything the SEO changed on the site stays: the copy, the structure, the structured data and the technical fixes. You revoke access to Search Console and the profiles; only the monthly measurement and the next changes stop. Rankings do not reset the day we stop, but competitors keep writing and collecting links, so over the months the positions move.

I already run Google Ads. Do I need SEO as well?

Yes, if the ads already sell: SEO turns the same searches into visits you do not pay for per click. Google Ads stops when the budget does, while evergreen content keeps drawing visitors long after it is written. So we start from the ad account: the searches that already lead to orders are the first ones we build pages for.
