Website speed optimisation

Website speed optimisation: images, code, caching and hosting. We measure in PageSpeed before and after — same page, same device — and report what each change bought.

WHAT IS INCLUDED

What website speed optimisation includes.

Measurement first

PageSpeed Insights on mobile and desktop, Core Web Vitals (LCP, INP, CLS) and time to first byte. We write the numbers down before touching anything.

Images and fonts

Modern formats such as WebP and AVIF, the right size for each screen, lazy loading below the fold and only the font weights in use.

Code and queries

Less JavaScript and CSS on the first screen, deferred scripts, fewer plugins and faster database queries.

Caching and CDN

Cached pages, browser caching and a content delivery network (CDN) for static files when visitors are far from the server.

Hosting

PHP version, HTTP/2, compression and a plan that can carry the traffic. A hosting move only when the measurement justifies it.

Report afterwards

The same measurements on the same instrument, before and after, plus a list of what is still left and who could do it.

HOW IT RUNS

How website speed optimisation moves through four stages, without a hand-off.

  1. 01

    Measure

We measure the pages that bring in orders and enquiries, on mobile and desktop. The before numbers go on record.

  2. 02

    Plan by weight

We rank the causes by how much each slows the site and how hard it is to fix. You see the list and timeline first.

  3. 03

Fix one thing at a time

Images, code, caching, hosting, each on its own, with a measurement after every step so we know which change paid off.

  4. 04

    Measure again and report

Same instrument, same pages, same devices. A before-and-after report and what is left, for you or any team you choose.

Website speed optimisation is work on a site you already have: making it faster without making it different. At T&B Technology we measure the PageSpeed Insights score and Core Web Vitals, then take the images, the code, the caching and the hosting one at a time and measure again. The design stays as it is; what changes is what makes the page wait.

On a phone, a slow site loses the customer before they reach the basket, and Google Ads marks its landing page down. We also work on sites we did not build, such as WordPress with a heavy theme and too many plugins. Under 50 on mobile, there is real work to do; above 90, extra points rarely pay. Mobile counts for more, because Google judges a site by its mobile version; what mobile optimisation covers is in the glossary.

What we sell is a measurement, not a promised score. We record the numbers before we start and after every step, so the report shows what each change bought. We compare mobile with mobile and desktop with desktop, on the same page and with the same instrument — otherwise the comparison means nothing.

A faster site pays first in orders and enquiries, through your conversion rate. Speed will not rescue a store with the wrong products or a page nobody searches for. If the platform itself is the brake, we say so and talk about a new build: website development or online store development. Monthly checks after that come under website maintenance; what moves the price is on the pricing page.

REVIEWS

What clients say.

“There are agencies that build you a website. And there are those that catch your idea from two sentences and turn it into something that actually works. We are with them for websites, ads and everything digital — and what we love most is that they do not wait for you to tell them every next step. They suggest, think, test and act. And when you open the site and say to yourself “Hey, that is exactly what I meant”, you know you have found your people. 🚀”

PRICE

How much does website speed optimisation cost?

Website speed optimisation is priced on three things: what the site runs on, how many pages and images it has, and whether the hosting has to change. We start with a measurement, and the quote comes with a list of what we would fix and in what order. What moves the price up or down is set out on the pricing page.

QUESTIONS

Website speed optimisation: what people ask most.

Why is my website slow?

A slow website usually comes down to one of four things: full-size images, too many scripts and plugins, no caching, or slow hosting. Often it is two or three at once, and online stores add third-party scripts for chat, ads and analytics. PageSpeed Insights shows which weighs most on your site; we measure it, rank the causes and tell you what to fix first.

What is a good PageSpeed score?

A good PageSpeed score is 90 or above: 90–100 shows green, 50–89 orange and anything under 50 red. The score applies to one page on one device, and mobile is almost always lower than desktop, because the test simulates a slower phone and network. So we compare the same page on the same device, before the work and after it. Core Web Vitals (LCP, INP and CLS) are the other half: they show how the page behaves for real visitors, and they appear once a site has enough traffic.

Will a faster website rank higher on Google?

A faster website ranks only slightly higher: Google takes load speed into account, but content and links to the site weigh far more. Speed settles a tie between two equally good pages; it will not lift a site from page three to page one. Where it shows at once is in orders, enquiries and bounce rate, and in the landing-page experience rating in Google Ads.

Do you work on WordPress sites, and on sites you did not build?

Yes, we work on WordPress and WooCommerce sites, including ones someone else built. We start by reviewing the theme, plugins, images and hosting. That tells us up front what is achievable without changing platform, and what is not. If the theme is the ceiling, you hear it before the work starts, not after.

Will the design change?

No, speed optimisation leaves the design as it is: the same pages, the same colours, the same content. If something heavy has to go or be replaced, such as a slider of five large photos, we agree it with you first.

Do you guarantee a particular PageSpeed score?

No, we do not guarantee a PageSpeed score, because it also depends on things that are not always in our hands: the hosting, the platform and third-party scripts. What we guarantee is a before-and-after measurement — same page, same device, same instrument — and a list of what is still left, with the numbers in the report.

How long does it take, and what stays with me?

How long speed optimisation takes depends on the size of the site and on the hosting. A ten-page site and a store with thousands of products are different jobs. The timeline is in the plan you get after the first measurement, before any work starts. Afterwards you keep the fixes, which live in the site itself, and the before-and-after report, so you, or another team, can pick up where we left off.
