What is HTML?

HTML (hypertext markup language) is the language that gives a page its structure and meaning: headings, paragraphs, lists, links, images, forms. Search engines, screen readers and AI assistants all read that structure before they read the design, which is why semantic HTML is an accessibility and a search decision, not only a technical one.
